Study in Canada from Pakistan | Admissions & Study Permit Guidance

Canada

Build Your Future with Quality Education in Canada

Canada offers Pakistani students a wide range of university, college and graduate study options through designated learning institutions (DLIs). The strongest applications start with the right programme and institution—not simply the cheapest option—because tuition, admission standards, PAL/TAL rules, study-permit evidence and post-graduation work permit eligibility can differ significantly by programme and institution.

Abroad Connection supports students in across Pakistan with profile assessment, DLI and programme shortlisting, admission applications, scholarship guidance, PAL/TAL planning where required, proof-of-funds review, study-permit documentation and pre-departure guidance. We also help students check programme-level considerations such as PGWP eligibility before they commit to an institution.

Study in Canada from Pakistan

Canada offers university, college and graduate study options across a wide range of fields. For Pakistani students, the key is to match the programme, institution, budget and study-permit requirements carefully before applying.

Why Study in Canada?

Available Study Levels

Major Canada Intakes

September/Fall is the main intake at many institutions. January/Winter is also common for selected programmes, while May/Spring is available at some institutions. Availability depends on the school and course.

Admission Requirements for Pakistani Students

Requirements vary by institution and programme. Common items include academic certificates and transcripts, passport, English-language evidence, statement of purpose, references and a CV for some graduate programmes. Some programmes may require prerequisites, portfolios or additional tests.

IELTS & English Requirements

Canadian institutions set their own English requirements. IELTS Academic is widely used, while many institutions also accept other approved tests. The required score can differ by programme, so always verify it on the institution’s official admissions page.

Typical Tuition Fees

EduCanada reports that international college diploma programmes commonly cost around CAD 16,000–25,000 per year. For universities, the 2026 average is about CAD 41,746 per year for international undergraduates and CAD 24,028 per year for international graduate students. Actual fees vary by institution and field.

Living Costs & Proof of Funds

For study-permit applications outside Quebec filed on or after 1 September 2025, IRCC requires a single applicant to show CAD 22,895 for first-year living expenses, excluding tuition and transportation. You must also show how tuition and travel costs will be covered. Amounts are reviewed periodically, so check IRCC before filing.

Scholarships

Scholarships, fellowships and grants may be offered by Canadian institutions, governments and other organisations. Eligibility varies by programme and academic profile. Abroad Connection can help identify suitable options, but scholarship approval is never guaranteed.

Suggested Application Timeline

Start researching 8–12 months before your target intake where possible. Shortlist programmes, prepare English testing and documents, submit admission applications, secure the LOA and any required PAL/TAL, then prepare the study-permit application.

We help students shortlist suitable Canadian DLIs based on programme fit, tuition, location, intake and long-term goals. We only describe an institution as an official partner when a formal representation agreement exists.

Canada Study Permit & Work Updates for 2026

Canada’s study-permit rules have changed significantly in recent years, so students should check current IRCC requirements before applying. Many applicants need a provincial or territorial attestation letter (PAL/TAL), although exemptions exist. International students who meet the conditions of their study permit may work off campus up to 24 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.

PGWP Eligibility Matters Before You Choose a Programme

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility is not automatic for every programme or institution. Eligibility depends on factors such as the designated learning institution, programme type and other IRCC rules. For some non-degree programmes, field-of-study requirements may also apply. Students should verify PGWP eligibility before paying deposits or committing to a programme if post-study work options are important to their plan.
