Can Pakistani Students Apply After Intermediate, FA/FSc, ICS or A Levels?

Yes. Malaysian universities commonly accept applicants who have completed at least 12 years of recognised schooling. Depending on the programme and university, Pakistani students may apply after HSSC/Intermediate, FA, FSc, ICS, ICom or A Levels. Education Malaysia programme listings show bachelor’s entry routes based on Grade 12, A-Level, IB or equivalent qualifications. Final equivalence and subject prerequisites are decided by the university.

Bachelor’s Admission Requirements for Pakistani Students

Master’s Admission Requirements

For master’s study, Pakistani applicants generally need a recognised bachelor’s degree. Minimum CGPA and subject-background requirements vary by programme. Some Malaysian master’s programmes require a related degree and may set CGPA thresholds such as 2.75 or 3.00, while others consider professional experience or additional conditions. Always check the exact programme page.

English Language Requirements

Most Malaysian higher-education programmes for international students are delivered in English. EMGS currently lists accepted English tests for Student Pass/VAL purposes including IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, PTE Academic, Cambridge English, Linguaskill, MUET, OET and ELS CIEP. Required scores are programme-specific.

If you need preparation, see our IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, Duolingo and Cambridge preparation courses.

Malaysia Student Pass / Visa Process

EMGS states that new Student Pass applicants need an offer letter, passport documents, academic certificates/transcripts, a health declaration and accepted English-language evidence. New international students are also required to complete an in-country medical screening at an EMGS panel clinic within the required period after arrival.

Passport & Student Pass Documentation

EMGS currently requires a passport with sufficient validity for a new Student Pass application and recommends planning passport validity well beyond the course period. Students should prepare the passport bio-data page, relevant visa pages, offer letter, academic documents, photo and other documents requested by the university or EMGS.

Tuition Fees in Malaysia

Fees vary by institution and programme. Education Malaysia currently gives a broad bachelor’s tuition guide of around US$2,500–5,000 per year at public universities and around US$6,000–9,500 per year at private institutions. International branch-campus and specialised programmes may cost more. Always use the university’s current official fee schedule before paying.

Living Costs

Malaysia is generally more affordable than many Western study destinations, but costs vary by city and lifestyle. Education Malaysia’s budgeting guide lists on-campus accommodation broadly around US$50–150 per month and off-campus accommodation around US$100–300 per month, with additional food, transport, utilities and personal costs.

Intakes & Application Timeline

Malaysia does not have one single national intake calendar. Many universities offer multiple intakes during the year, commonly including early-year and mid/late-year starts, while public universities may have more limited cycles. Pakistani students should normally begin 4–8 months before the intended intake so there is enough time for admission, Visa Approval Letter/Student Pass processing and travel preparation.

Scholarships

Scholarships and tuition discounts may be offered by Malaysian universities, government programmes and individual faculties. Eligibility depends on academic performance, programme, nationality and intake. Scholarship approval is never guaranteed, so students should treat it as a separate application process rather than relying on it for the main budget.
